Introduction
While there are dozens of first person shooters on smartphones, Sega tries to fill the oddly sparse light gun shooter genre with The House of the Dead Overkill: Lost Reels.
Graphics
As you would expect, there’s blood and gore everywhere. It also has been polished to look like their console versions, with the graphics surpassing even the outdated Wii version.
You get taken through, among other locations, a zombie-infested house and blast all the zombies you see to bits with various weapons that you may get access to, depending on your combos. The touch controls respond very well, which helps greatly in landing the headshots you need as well as sniping down items and the zombies may throw at you.
The boss fights in the game don’t work out so well, however, as you’re absolutely required to upgrade your weapons, and even then still takes a long time for them to go down. Beyond that, the bosses require no real strategy and should be easily taken down with a fully upgraded weapon.
Conclusion
The game is indeed fun, but with needing to pay more for future episodes, it could end up a costly affair. If you’re willing to wait for possible price drops, add this to your wishlist.
